I entered into a service agreement with TruGreen after being promised a healthier, greener lawn. From the beginning of service, the condition of my lawn continuously worsened rather than improved. Despite numerous service visits and repeated complaints, weeds spread across the entire yard and large sections of grass died. I contacted TruGreen many times and was repeatedly assured that additional or “special” treatments would correct the issue. These assurances proved false. TruGreen blamed several factors over time, including the season and my irrigation system. I was instructed by TruGreen to measure lawn watering using sardine cans. I followed their instructions exactly and reported the results. TruGreen informed me the amount of water was sufficient and that watering was not the issue. Despite this, TruGreen later claimed the lawn damage was caused by lack of water, directly contradicting their prior statements. A manager inspected my lawn and promised further treatment would save it. Instead, days before my home was placed on the market, TruGreen applied a treatment that resulted in visible burn patterns across both the front and back yard. I explicitly instructed TruGreen not to send additional technicians until I spoke with someone regarding replacement of my grass. This request was ignored, and service continued anyway. I have photos and videos documenting the damage and an independent evaluation stating the lawn cannot be restored. I am asking that TruGreen replace my lawn. They killed it after all.
this was such a horrible experience !!! normally i do my homework I used them years ago and had a decent experience I checked online and under the vomoany’s website saw a decent 4.2 AI said that they had some good reviews in sore areas and bad reviews in other areas as i recheck with yelp ect I now see 1.2 ratings out of 5 i hired them about 6 months ago I’m in the orlando/ winter park area my lawn needed more upkeep than i was giving it within a month of the first application i was calling them about the weeds they came for free another month i called about the weeds they came again about seven weeks ago i called and told them that i thought much of my lawn was dead i told them i wasn’t a supervisor to come to review the same guy came and sprayed for weeds which was not what i wanted to know i tried to cancel and they sent out someone to fertilize for free ingratiate do for free but my lawn looks the worst it ever has i called and set up an appointment with a supervisor and no one showed later that day someone came and charged me with a service even though i told them that i did not want any services until i spoke to someone no supervisor my lawn looks horrible i irrigate 2-3 times per week it is full of bare spots, brown grass and weeds the joke is in the last assessment the young man said he could not service the weeds become it would kill the grass if i did my homework in the beginning i should have done my homework better i believe this company is primarily owned by the same company that owns american home shield i think they have more complaints with the BBB than any other company in the country trugreen could be number two for the results that i had on my lawn they could have been spraying salt water instead i so when they tell you that they will do a free service to fix it just tell them “ No, just cancel the service effective immediately”
When I hired TruGreen a year ago last October I was looking for a partner to help improve my lawn. What I got was a provider of chemicals, who left my yard and my pocketbook worse off. The attached picture #1 taken 2 October 2025 at the end of my contract with TruGreen was an area of concern. I had sodded it with St. Augustine and it looked similar to picture #2 at the beginning of my contract. Area #1 improved a little, but by the end of the contract the St. Augustine was all dead. The Area #2 looks the same as when they started, the area never filled in. Also, I had a large area of jasmine, that all died during the time of my contract with them that had been growing well for the last 5 years, since we had purchased the home. I hired them because the sales representative said they would do soil testing. When the tech presented and I asked about testing the soil in Area #1 he looked confused. They did not do that. He took the sample anyway and it sat on his supervisor’s desk and was never tested. I called the company and they sent a knowledgeable supervisor. He gave me advice about the yard, took soil samples, but said the tests would be very basic, suggested I water the yard more than the county ordinance allowed, and gave me a free chemical application. I followed his watering advice for a while (I have a well for watering) and his other tips. The soil tests came back unremarkable. Eventually the St. Augustine in Area#1 all died. I was offered another free application of chemicals. When the jasmine died in a very short period, I called the supervisor and he said the chemicals they had on their truck would not kill jasmine. There was no continuity in the techs that presented at the property. I did not know when they were coming until the day before. They were unable to give me a better schedule so I could try and be present to discuss what was happening to the yard. I was looking for a partner to help me improve my yard. I did not get that. This company provided the chemical applications as specified in our contract. When I expressed my concerns they attempted to address them.
My technician Steven D was courteous and very professional. He touched base with me when he arrived and again after he completed spraying my yard. He was very personable.
This company manipulating me over the phone selling a dream for you to agree. I was told the first visit was $31 and change and the following visits would be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart up to 10 months for $61 and change. After the first visit I called to cancel their service and then they came with a bill charging me $95 because they can make decisions to add services without asking for me approval. So they can come and charge me for things I have no idea. They are slick in charging rates they are not suppose to charge. I do not trust or recommend this company. They are not truthful.
