I’ve been bringing my son here for a couple of months now, and we couldn’t be happier. Alonso is fantastic at making conversation and helping my son feel comfortable and confident, not just about his haircut, but about himself. After not having the best experiences with other local barbershops, it’s such a relief to finally find one with such a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone there is phenomenal, friendly, outgoing, and most importantly, they truly know how to cut hair. We’re so glad we found this place!
Alonso is hands down one of the best barbers I’ve been to. He really takes the time to listen to what you want and delivers every time. Clean fades, sharp lineups, and great attention to detail. The cut always comes out exactly how I want it, if not better. Super professional, chill vibe, and never feels rushed. If you’re looking for quality and consistency, Alonso is your guy. Highly recommend.

I used to be a regular at Slate Blade Barbershop, and for a long time I genuinely enjoyed coming here—especially getting my cuts with Shawn. Unfortunately, over my last 4–5 visits, the experience has consistently gone downhill. The biggest issue has been scheduling. Shawn routinely overbooks appointments, which has resulted in me waiting an additional 20-25 minutes past my scheduled time on multiple occasions. I understand that things happen and delays are sometimes unavoidable, but when it becomes the norm, it starts to feel disrespectful to the client’s time. What made this more frustrating is the inconsistency in how lateness is handled. On one occasion, I called ahead to let them know I’d be 5 minutes late due to traffic and was told I’d be charged a surge/late fee. While I don’t love it, I can at least understand having a policy. However, when I arrive on time (or early), the shop is often already behind schedule. To make matters worse, I’ve noticed that appointments are quietly adjusted in Vagaro—my booking time is manually shifted to the next 30-minute slot once I arrive. This feels like a way to avoid negative reviews or cancellation penalties rather than addressing the actual scheduling problem. Overall, Slate Blade charges premium pricing, comparable to some of the top barbershops in the Naples area, but the experience no longer matches that price point. At this level, clients expect professionalism, punctuality, and transparency. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience lately, which is disappointing given how loyal I used to be. Your search for the best barbers in town is over. Slate Blade is top notch. I’ve been going to Val for longer than I can remember and this shop puts it over the top. Always an amazing cut with a wash, straight edge and warm scented towels for your face and neck. Maximum relaxation. Great place for you and the kids. Dog friendly(encouraged). Couches to relax, free drinks, snacks and beer, video games and tvs. What more could you want. The owners Corey and Shawn are awesome and have put together an amazing space. Can’t recommend this place enough!
