An eclectic and fascinating environment with great food, superb cocktails, and talented service. There are lots of menu selections that would please the Mexican food lover on all levels, from common to near gourmet. Our server, Anna, did a perfect job of juggling our orders of six diners expertly. Upstairs, the Whiskey Hotel, looks like a good watering hole, but is open (presently) open only on Fridays and Saturdays. We'll come back to check it out. Happy Hour lasts until 6:00 PM and you can get those tasty Tequila cocktails and small plates at a good price. Worth a visit or two. Recommended, y'all.
First time here and will definitely be back!! Atmosphere is so cute, warm and welcoming. Interior is well decorated and lighting is perfect. They have a mixture of high tops, booth and seats at the bar, and rooftop on the weekends. We got the braised carnitas and marinated carne asada and both were excellent. This is bang for your buck right here! Literally SO full (in the best way), we had leftovers! Margaritas are made well and food is well portioned. The marinated carne asada was SO GOOD, so much that I want the marinade recipe! Both dishes came with all the fixes of beans, rice, corn, and veggies. The table comes with chips and salsa. The trip dip was plenty for two people - queso, guac and bean dip were all great.
I want to live here! This place is so cool! The last time we were in Greenville, we noticed this amazing old building, but it was boarded up. So happy to see it in use, and The Matador has a great vibe. We had the Whiskey House Old Fashioned and a Sazerac, both excellent, at the upstairs bar, as well as the guacamole (fabulous). We were there on a Friday night, late, after a concert. The crowd was on the young side overall. Overheard lots of orders for White Claw and Ultra (smh - I hope their palates expand as they mature, bless them). Bartender was awesome.
We had a wonderful night here. The ambiance was 10/10, the food was great (we had the quesadillas and some steak/rice), the salsa was amazing and it was just an amazing experience all the way around. Would 100% come back!
Really great to finally have a successful business in this building- my first time visiting last night since their opening and the happy hour menu did not disappoint! We (2 people) shared complimentary chips and salsa, guacamole which also came with two different salsas, a huge chicken quesadilla, and 3 street tacos (carnitas, shredded chicken, and chorizo) AND- I got a frozen margarita; all for about $31! Hard to beat that these days. Not to mention, usually frozen margs are hit or miss, but this one was smooth and super flavorful. Definitely want to come back and try more of their food! They also have a rooftop bar and second level of indoor seating. Only thing I noticed was the service could have been a bit faster, but maybe that was just our experience.
