You either love it or shop somewhere else. Learned today that corporate places orders, not the individual store, which knows the current supply available. Based on this week’s ad, shopping for chicken thighs was a bust. Not a single one in the store, as none were on the truck when it delivered stock. Bummer!

German supermarket with some tasty treats. This market has a very good selection of food and drinks. The quality is very good and you can also find some unusual items. The baked goods, cheese, and wine section are particularly recommended. The value for money is very good. I was there on a Sunday and was a little shocked that only one checkout was open. However, self-service checkouts are really annoying. They are complicated to use and you are forced to enter information that has nothing to do with your purchase. The person who supervises these checkouts is constantly busy. Of course, these checkouts also destroy jobs and optimize profits for the operator. This supermarket is highly recommended.

I was very unhappy with the poorly service rendered by Eddie, the cashier at the store located on 1866 Woodruff Road in Greenville, South Carolina. He wrongly keyed in the price of 1 item that I purchased. I complained about it after checkout and going to my car. He fixed the error with a very poor attitude, no apology was offered.

Lidl is a difficult review for me. That’s because I love shopping there, and I have been to Lidl on a weekly basis for close to two years now. However; there are some criticisms that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. So I’ll break down my experience there for anyone who cares: Staff: The staff are awesome! They’re always very friendly, kind, helpful and very busy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them just standing around. We especially enjoy talking to Mr. Robert each time we see him. The staff are great! Cleanliness: The Lidl on Woodruff is always pretty clean. The store floor and the bathrooms have been very tidy whenever I’m there. The exception is the meat coolers. They sometimes (not always) smell, and that means the packages of meat inside them sometime smell, too. Variety: Between the bakery, the imported foods, the specialty items such as cheeses, and the option of name-brands or Lidl brands, there is no shortage of variety. We find fun new things to try all the time, and finding items to fill up a charcuterie board is a breeze. Cost: Many name brand products are less expensive at Lidl than other grocery stores, and Lidl brand products are generally going to save you money. I am often pleasantly surprised by how low my grocery bill is at Lidl. Quality: Here’s where we start to lose stars. It’s very hit or miss. I’ve had an overall good experience. However, it is a bit of a “trust but verify” situation. I’ve seen moldy produce, I’ve accidentally purchased bad meat, and I’ve brought a milk jug home to find it was leaking. Once I even found hair from a wig tangled up in my sealed package of asparagus. Mistakes happen, quality isn’t always going to be perfect. But as the consumer, you need to be on the lookout. Inspect thoroughly, check dates, make sure cans aren’t severely dented, etc. Most of the time, the quality is good or even great! But you do need to be vigilant. When something does go wrong, tell them and they will be happy to make it right. I have returned products and had no problem getting my money refunded to a gift card. Final thoughts: If you approach Lidl with an open mind and a critical eye, it’s awesome! It truly is one of my favorite grocery stores. Some of my favorite items: Lidl brand English muffins Lidl Lupilu Organic Baby Food Lidl medium spicy salsa Cheese twists and croissants from the bakery Lidl Cornichons gherkins I’m sure I could think of plenty more to add. But I’ll leave it that. I love Lidl, I think you will, too.

Mediocre, hard to keep stocked shelves and more recently installed those STUPID exit gates that require receipt, what if they don't have what you are looking for and you want to walk out without buyibg. (which is frequent) have to find and flag down employee
