We couldn’t be happier with the deck Derek built for us. From the beginning, communication was clear, and he was always willing to answer questions and make sure we were on the same page. The finished deck turned out exactly how we envisioned it, and the quality of the work exceeded our expectations. The project was completed quickly and efficiently without sacrificing craftsmanship. Derek and his crew were professional, respectful of our property, and kept us informed throughout the process. On top of that, he was kind enough to help us with another small project around the house that we’d been putting off for months, and that turned out just as great. It’s hard to find contractors who genuinely care about doing quality work and making sure their customers are happy, but Derek definitely does. We highly recommend Decks by Derek to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-built deck or outdoor project. We’d gladly hire him again.

I just want to say that Decks by Derek’s prices were extremely fair, especially compared to what other porch builders charged. He even gave us a discount to replace the porch, side fence, and backyard fence. Aside from the cheap cost, the work he did looks great and was thoroughly done. I’d recommend Decks by Derek for anyone who wants their porch replaced well at a cheap price. Our family was happy to find an honest and fair person to do business with because our porch needed to be replaced for years. This deal saved us thousands of dollars.

Just you all know I am not a person that wants to give a bad review , but with this job and the person that did it I had to unfortunately, share with all of you my bad experience.I did my best to try to get this all resolved but …. *update* | spoke to Derek and he sent his crew over to look at what need to be fixed ( because he didn't do a good job on like the gate ( it was meant to a Vinyl gate) , the lack of care when he was building the base of the deck . the gap in between the deck & dog pen, the guardrails Support & the boards that were. not nail down that are starting to come up) and finished the stuff that he never finished when he was first here. I was told that Derek will come and do what ever was needed to be done if I took down the bad review. I spoke to Derek and he agreed to come and look over the stuff that he needed to fix and complete a couple of Saturdays ago. He never showed up ( the day & time he said he would be at my house ) & when I called to asked him where he was because I moved things around d my day to be home, he blocked me on his phone ! A complaint has been put through to the Better Business Bureau about him and his work. He never replied back to the BBB. Just to show you how bad his work is, here are photos to back it up. All I wanted was for what I paid for ! ** the photos show the poorly built gate that he assembled and put up which by the way we were supposed to have a all white vinyl gate installed, cheap metal hinge kit that he used on the gate. The gap between the dog pen and the gate,.The guard rail around the deck shows dripping underneath the rail because there was no rail supports, put underneath to help support any type of weight . In the photos, you can see all exposed word that he used all throughout the The deck like under the steps around the steps around the trim around the deck, and he even did it to go underneath the crawlspace under the deck he used wood. It’s hard to see in some of them, but you can see that there’s on the track boards on the deck that you can see that there’s no gaps between some of them because he didn’t put any spaces there so there’s no support to keep the tracks boards like in their place so they shipped around back-and-forth and he didn’t even nail them in place. When Derek came to go and give me the estimate, he showed me all these different type of photos of all this work that he’s done in the past and he showed me this is gonna be this is how it’s gonna look like you’re like the entrance to your crawlspace this is how you’re railings are gonna look. This is the gate we’re gonna use. This is how your stairs are gonna look and I kept on saying I do not want any exposed, but I promise you there won’t be any exposed wood this is how it’s gonna be. I made it very clear. I wanted to make sure that that we were both on the same page and he 100% understood everything I wanted to be done in my back yard deck work . Deck is so unprofessional ! I have been waiting a couple of weeks to post this . My blood boiling every time I go outside and look at my deck . First Derek, the owner seems nice , but asap the job starts the turns into jerk & that’s me being nice. He starts going crazy . He gives you an estimate on the job and asap the job starts in day one the price changes . For A Lot ! Don’t do anything g that you spoke about with the deck design. When you ask him a question about the deck he starts complaining about the cost and how he’s so over budget . At the end of the job the deck is in no way the way how the deck was ment to look like : you ask a question about something about the deck , why it looks A certain way and he starts going crazy & shouting out you. He leaves your back your extremely messy . Nails , bottles , cement & trash all over your yard when he leaves . Used your yard stuff ( table , chairs & umbrellas that are very much destroyed by him . His crew are 2 amazing guys that work sooo hard ! If is wasn’t for them that guy won’t be where he is today . They were just A pleasure to have here and work on your property every day .

Derek replaced our deck, fence, and shed, and he exceeded our expectations! The work he did is solid and looks amazing. We’ve gotten several compliments from our neighbors. It was finished in a timely manner and he always kept us up to date on the progress. He was also mindful of our kids and pets by warning us if there were any areas of the yard that they needed to temporarily avoid. He always had treats for the dog and cat which they loved. I would highly recommend!
